Responding to the Press Release: “Councils and Trade Unions Unite to Oppose Government Care Plans”, Mary Alexander and Patricia Findlay Co-Chairs of the Fair Work Convention said:
“It is deeply frustrating that after three years, little progress has been made on implementing our Social Care Inquiry recommendations. The Scottish Government must recognise the pressure the workforce is under and the impact this has on service users and the NHS.
“Delivering better working conditions and an effective voice for social care workers is key to addressing current challenges in social care. It is also a necessary foundation for any future reform in the sector. The urgent priority must be supporting the workforce and delivering fair work through a sectoral bargaining agreement.”
